HOW TO “REFRESH” YOUR HOUSE EASILY

HOW TO “REFRESH” YOUR HOUSE EASILY - homeandhelp.com

Years have passed since your last major renovation, and now it feels like your home needs to be revived, but whenever you think about all the mess, the costs and the wreckage – you get a headache, and all this outdated stuff doesn’t seem that bad anymore.

Just to help you give your property a fresh breath, HOME AND HELP have collected some of the easiest and most efficient tricks that will turn your apartment/house into a completely new place and bring back the forgotten excitement upon entering your new home.

Change the wallpapers

It is always a good and quite an easy option. There are new designs, colors and structures appearing almost every day. It is rather economical and easy to perform. While putting the wallpaper sheet make sure the wall has an even finish, so that there will be no ripples. Also, as an option, change just one wall – it actually might be a very creative stroke.

Use the walls

A magic trick that gives you both a token of renovation and extra storage – putting shelves, niches, wardrobes or cupboards and cabinets on your walls. The latter, once useless, now become a decoration platform and will rationally contribute to the new design.

Choose new curtains

Curtains not only control the light, but also warm up the space and make it look bigger. There are thousands of options nowadays, but the fabric ones are preferred as they make the room look cozier. Fabrics range from the lightest and most transparent to the heaviest that make light entering more difficult.

If you are more of blinds kind of a person, their main advantage is that they usually tend to get less dirty than cloth.

Re-paint the doors

If you don’t want to spend a lot but still want to retouch your place – change the color of your interior doors. It can be as the neutral one to blend in the overall decoration flow or can be the key element of the interior. Again, a simple trick – substantial change with a low cost.

Change the covers

Pillows, carpets, rugs, mats, furniture upholstery – by changing these you may change the entire style of your living space. Small things that some time seem invisible can become powerful decorative elements.

Lighting is a key

Lighting is essential for any indoor space. It also serves to highlight decoration elements, make the room more warm and inviting or more serious and strict. You can achieve this by getting new lamps or lanterns of different height or design. Just take into account that depending on lamp’s features the light intensity, its angle and temperature may vary.

However, if you go hard on the light thing, it is always better to use professional electrician’s service to avoid problems.

Add mirrors

Mirrors can visually duplicate the dimension of space with their reflections. They can be used for decoration, with rectangles or circles of different sizes in some strategic wall. Another option, of course, would be loose mirrors, with frames, that can even lean on the floor and create a charming atmosphere.

Flooring

If you’re not constrained by time, you can change the floor quickly and easily. Just install a vinyl floor over the existing one; 100m² can be done in just two or three days of work.

There’s an infinite variety of colors and textures. Moreover, the vinyl floor is weightless: it is applied directly on the original flooring. Also, it’s very easy to clean and has a great price-quality ratio.

Small details, big changes

Small things are sometimes capable of renewing the place completely. New paintings, furniture pieces, glass objects – all these are small parts that seem quite insignificant, however if we change them, we may also change the entire look of the living space.

Also keep in mind that before perforating a wall for a new painting or a plasma TV it’s good to check for any embedded pipes in order not to cause future problems.
